We are a new kind of resource for children and their parents that focuses on holistic well-being by providing a mix of traditional therapy and alternative, dynamic experiences. Our founder Verenice Hernandez-Herrera has been an educator and school counselor for 20+ years in the San Diego region. Her experience in working with thousands of kids in public education and seeing kids/teens in their own environment has given her the edge in truly understanding the “whole child” and their social-emotional needs. She has been a fierce advocate for additional counseling support in and out of the school for kids/teens within her community. Verenice is a mom to 3 teenage children and understands that it truly does take a village to raise confident, resilient, and well-rounded children.
Even as an educator and mental health expert, she found it difficult to find kids' therapy centers that had more than your traditional, boring grey walls and leather couches, which are intimidating for kids/teens… so she became determined to build a place where kids can feel connected, heard, understood, and empowered to learn and grow. This is how Wishwell was born – as a vibrant, innovative, and dynamic space for young minds to explore their thoughts and emotions. With a focus on therapy and empowerment coaching and a team of experts in the kids’ mental wellness space, Wishwell is meeting the needs of families in San Diego like no other counseling center before it.
